Chapter 505 505: Back Home
Chapter 505 505: Back Home
I\'m leaving with him!" Cole simply said, as he pointed at Razor prompting the train driver to scoff as he waved them off.
"The child would have wandered the void for a bit before he would have been learnt how to find his way back to his body, or sign his soul over to me and serve on my express for all eternity. Either ways he\'s useless to me, so you can leave with him, now Get Off!"
The driver\'s words seemed to tear at the void, bringing it to a screeching halt as it rushed forwards to swallow Cole, Azrael and Razor. It only took Cole a moment to realize that the train had actually sped off and left them hanging in the void, somehow moving out from under their feet in a split second.
Cole rushed forwards and held on to Razor as the darkness swallowed them. Cole felt himself twisted, turned left, right, inside out as the void spat the three of them over the skies of the Sahara desert.
Razor shrunk, his form turning small until it was about the size a hotdog. Cole recognized and felt the Raen Bond resonate with him now, and it was enough for Cole to know that this was actually Razor\'s soul, or his consciousness, not Razor himself or his body. This is what has been missing, making it impossible for the boy to wake up.
Cole held him closer as he spun his body and used [Gravity Rings] to halt his descent, whilst simultaneously using [Storm Calling] to cover them entire area and shower it with a fury of lightning bolts. But Azrael was long gone by then, his voice the only thing left lingering behind.
"We will have this dance again in the future, it won\'t end until your name is crossed off my list or I\'m dead. But until then, live a good life, Devil."
Cole didn\'t respond. He let go of his techniques as he landed on top of a dune, a stray camel watching him, with a puzzled gaze, probably wondering where this strange man from the sky came from. Cole wasn\'t sure if this was earth, because frankly speaking this could be another trick.
"Morgan?"
…..
…..
[M-Master Cole?]
"Why do you sound so surprised to hear my voice?" Cole asked as he glared at the sun, and the onset of the sweltering heat that the desert was famous for.
[Forgive my boldness master Cole, but your last broadcast was 4 months ago. The last we saw and heard of you was when you got onto that train and vanished into that portal. Since then there has been no word, and the rest of the world has carried on in your absence, the entrance to the 8th floor was discovered just a week ago.]
Cole blinked in surprise, they were probably only in the void for about 2 hours at most 3 hours, and yet somehow fourth months had gone past. But if four months had gone past then that meant!
"Tehilla! The baby?"
[Lady Tehilla Delivered Her\'s And Your Daughter With No Complications on the 9th Of February….just last month sir…..don\'t worry, you haven\'t missed much.]
Haven\'t missed much? He missed everything. The one thing that even as a child he had found fascinating and drawn to. Idolized those he saw filling those shoes, and basked in the warmth of their love and care. A father, and one thing that was important to every man of the Night family is to be present for the birth of all their children, and yet Cole had missed the birth of his child…a girl...his daughter.
"Morgan I-"
[Don\'t worry Master I Have Already Alerted The Mistress, She Is On Her Way With Some Transport. But At The Same Time Master, Who Is This Infernal and Disrespectful Pup, Prancing Around In My Well Catered, Well Curated Memory Library! No Put That Down! Do Not Touch That!]
Cole sat down, he was still a hit shaken by the news of him having been gone for four months, enough to have missed the birth of his own child. He was so out of it that he had not noticed that Morgan, had a little bit more attitude and character than he normally did.
But even if he did notice it, it was still would not be enough to reduce the sheer amount of hatred Cole suddenly felt for Azrael. Perhaps he might have gotten to like the guy a bit, this was an individual that pushed Cole to his limits and forced him to grow again and again just to survive.
But Azrael had set a trap and had him running for his life in a dungeon for a few hours then got him stuck in the void for four months! When only three hours passed. He was livid, he had lost so much time, very important time. It was safe to say that should Cole see Azrael again, it would not be a man fighting for his life and trying to ensure he doesn\'t get assassinated that the assassin would find.
Instead he would find a man who hates him and whatever function or subroutine of a subroutine is responsible for, sending the assassin after him. Cole sat on the sands, Morgan and Lyren\'s voice a drone in the background of his mind, as he watched the sun setting towards the west.
Cole was angry, but at the same time he was drained. When you had your life on the edge of a knife for so many times in such a short time frame, it would be sure to have taken a toll on you. And Cole felt tired, not to mention he had lost an arm, safe to say he was not in a good mood.
But level 100 was or rather is a game changer for humanity. He had to change his approach, but more than that he realized perhaps this different floors, should not be passed through so early. Cole realized that while the difficulty was rising and it was taking more and more time to find the next floors. He realized that perhaps it would be best to slow down.
Because every time things have changed for the worst, is always when they unlock a new floor, speeding up the swallowing of their universe. So perhaps it would be best for them to focus on the accrual of power rather than rushing to get all the benefits before someone else does. The enemy is still out there, beyond space and time, and the void and the abyss. But Cole was waiting, whenever they get here…he\'ll be ready.
The sound of a chopper droning in the distance was heard as Cole raised his head up to see a black helicopter cutting through the air towards him. He got right back up to his feet as he moved his eyes towards it, zooming in naturally like an eagle to see the pilot, but the glass was tinted, and right underneath it were massive machine guns that were beginning to spin as target sights popped up all over his body.
Cole sighed. "Morgan…..who are those guys?"
[Ahhh sorry Master, that would be the world council task force that\'s been asked to enforce and control all Raen activities on earth….. I have to patch all my on earth communications through their relays, I\'ve not had to do so though, they\'re scared of me, but I\'ve limited my functions to the black tower, I\'m only here because you called for me Master.
It seems they have decided to betray us. The Mistress is still 20 minutes out, and given your current state, would you be able to hold on before they get here master?]
Cole chuckled as he sat back down, waiting for them to come closer, he wanted to see if they had something they wanted to say, because in all honesty he was already pretty tired of all the fighting, he\'s not really had any time to rest. And with the damn time dilation in the void, months of fatigue was catching up to him rapidly. He\'d rather put that Nobility stat to use and see if being one armed has made him less charismatic.
"Or you could just let me loose in full Animech form at them, I\'m sure that chopper would make a nice chew toy." Cole smiled even more as he shook his head again and relaxed, Lyren bleeding out to reform into his chaos Pup form.
The chopper drew closer but did not touch down as it\'s guns spun faster. Cole on the other hand narrowed his eyes as Lyren asked.
"What are the odds, these idiots will shit first and not ask questions ever?"
[Probably Around A 100% Young Lyren.]
"Oh, so I get to play with the chopper right? This place feels amazing, can I?"
Cole looked at the Pup, then back at the chopper as it opened fire. "Sure why not, knock yourself out Lyren."
[Animech Mode]
